Roland Garros » Named after pioneer aviator and World War I hero, Roland Garros, Stade de Roland Garros was constructed in 1928 to host France’s first defense of the Davis Cup. The venue has since become home to the French Open. Located in the stately 16th arrondissement of Paris, Roland Garros is a 21-acre complex comprised of the three famed stadium courts—Court Philippe Chatrier, Court Suzanne Lenglen and Court 1—and 17 other courts. The 2012 French Open recorded an attendance of 430, 093 with the French Tennis Federation anticipating Roland Garros to attract 550,000 spectators by 2016.
